The Bacardi family took an active part in the Cuban struggle for independence against Spain. They gained such great respect in the cocktail world that a special Bacardi cocktail appeared. The cocktail was even approved by law; in 1936, the New York Supreme Court ruled: the Bacardi cocktail must have Bacardi rum.
You will need (for one portion):
— light rum — 40 ml / 1.3 oz
— grenadine syrup — 10 ml / 0.3 oz
— half of a lime
— ice cubes
— crushed ice
— martini glass
— ice tongs
— ice scoop
— ice bucket
Fill the Martini glass with crushed ice to cool it.
Fill the shaker with ice cubes.
Measure 40 ml / 1.3 oz of light rum with the jigger and pour it into the shaker.
Pour 2 teaspoons of grenadine syrup into the shaker.
Put half of a lime into the squeezer and press to release juice into the shaker.
Lock the shaker and shake it well, holding it with both hands by the bottom and by the cap. You should hold very tight or the shaker may open!
Shake until the shaker has beads of sweat on the outside.
Pour the mix from the shaker into the glass.
Garnish with a lime slice. The Bacardi cocktail is complete!
