No extra cuts! Brain teasers and fun science tricks

Step 1: You will need: a piece of paper, scissors and tape (or glue).

Step 2: Make 8 paper loops, linking them to each other in pairs.

Step 3: Task: link all four pairs into one chain, cutting the fewest number of loops possible.

Step 4: Solution: take one pair and cut the first loop.

Step 5: Cut the second loop from the same pair. You’ve made only two cuts!

Step 6: Place the cut loops between the remaining three pairs as shown.

Step 7: Attach the first loop, linking two pairs.

Step 8: Attach the second loop, linking the third pair. The full chain of 8 loops is done, and it took only two cuts, not three!
