This cocktail is so popular that its fans celebrate Margarita Day on February 22. We recommend it to those who love tequila, but would like to lighten it a bit. As the Margarita proves, tequila tastes great with citrus. Orange liqueur Cointreau adds sweetness, and lime juice gives freshness.
You will need (for one portion):
— tequila — 40 ml / 1.3 oz
— Triple Sec syrup (or liqueur) — 20 ml / 0.7 oz
— half of a lime
— lime slice
— ice cubes
— crushed ice
— margarita glass
— ice tongs
— ice scoop
— ice bucket
Fill the Margarita glass with crushed ice to cool it.
Fill the shaker with ice cubes.
Measure 40 ml / 1.3 oz of tequila with the jigger and pour it into the shaker.
Measure 20 ml / 0.7 oz of the Triple Sec syrup and pour it into the shaker.
Put half of a lime into the squeezer and press to release juice into the shaker.
Lock the shaker and shake it well, holding it with both hands by the bottom and by the cap. You should hold very tight or the shaker may open!
Shake until the shaker has beads of sweat on the outside.
Rub the rim of the glass with a wedge of lime and some salt.
Pour the mix from the shaker into the glass.
Garnish with a lime slice. The Margarita is complete!
