Candle How to Draw
Step 1: Let’s draw the basic shapes and lines, applying gentle pressure on the pencil. We’ll start with the rectangular body of the candle itself.
Step 2: Then draw four ovals: a vertical one for the flame and three horizontal ones. Draw a small oval for the candle’s top; the upper edge of the rectangle divides it in half. Then draw two large ovals for the candlestick, placing the rectangle in their center.
Step 3: Now we start drawing contours, pressing on the pencil normally. Draw the candle, following the basic rectangle. Make the base a little wider than the candle itself and round the corners. Draw two trickles of wax ending with small drops. Make the candle’s edge a bit wavy.
Step 4: The candlestick is very simple to draw — just follow the basic oval and then repeat its bottom line below it.
Step 5: Detail the candle with a line to make it look melted. Draw the candlestick’s stem: its bottom line also repeats the ovals. The stem slightly tapers toward the top.
Step 6: Then draw the second disc of the candlestick the same way. We made it a little thicker.
Step 7: Draw one more wax trickle and the inside edge of the candle’s top. Mark the thickness of the edge, following the basic oval. Draw a small stripe for a wick.
Step 8: The flame flickers in the wind — that’s why it slightly curves to the right. Add two more tongues of flame on the sides. All the tips should be pointed. The inner part of the flame repeats all the contours of the outer part. Erase all the basic shapes and lines before coloring.
Step 9: And the most fun part — let’s color the picture! Mind the shading on the candlestick: the candle lights it from above; therefore, the discs’ surfaces will be the highlights. The side edges are darker, and the darkest value is the stem. Trace over the contours again if they got blurred after coloring. The candle is complete.
