14 steps
Step 1: Take a rectangular piece of paper, fold it in half upward to make a crease and unfold.
Step 2: Fold all four corners to meet the center line.
Step 3: Fold the top and bottom edges to meet the center line.
Step 4: Fold the item in half sideways.
Step 5: Fold the right corners to meet the center line and unfold.
Step 6: Unfold the item.
Step 7: Fold the item in half again, folding the middle part inward along the creases you’ve made.

Step 9: Unfold the upper flap, creasing it from the top right corner to the bottom right corner.
Step 10: Fold the left flap backward, bringing together the left and the right corners of the item.
Step 11: Fold the upper layers of the left corners to meet the center line.
Step 12: Fold the left corners backward to meet the center line.
Step 13: Unfold the item and expand the central part.
Step 14: The bow tie is complete!
