The fizz, a type of beverage based on soda water and citrus juices, was first mentioned in 1887. Since then many variations of fizzes have been invented. But it is the Gin Fizz cocktail which was and still remains the most popular among them. This light refreshing mix with a sweet and sour taste is easy to prepare and delightful to drink.

Step 1: You will need (for one portion):
— gin — 45 ml / 1.5 oz
— sugar syrup — 15 ml / 0.5 oz
— soda water — 80 ml / 2.7 oz
— half of a lemon
— ice cubes

Necessary utensils:
— highball glass
— ice tongs
— ice bucket
— jigger
— measuring cup
— shaker
— squeezer

Step 2: Fill the glass with ice cubes.

Step 3: Fill the shaker with ice cubes.

Step 4: Measure 45 ml / 1.5 oz of gin with the measuring cup and pour into the shaker.

Step 5: Add 15 ml / 0.5 oz of sugar syrup.

Step 6: Put half of a lemon in the squeezer and press to release juice into the shaker.

Step 7: Measure 80 ml / 2.7 oz of soda water with the measuring cup and pour into the shaker.

Step 8: Lock the shaker and shake it well, holding it with both hands by the bottom and by the cap. You should hold very tight or the shaker may open!

Step 9: Shake until the shaker has beads of sweat on the outside.

Step 10: Pour the mix from the shaker into the glass.

Step 11: Garnish with a cocktail berry, a lemon slice and a cocktail straw. The Gin Fizz is complete!
