Cubans know best when it comes to refreshing cocktails, and they made no mistake in creating the Daiquiri. They struck a good balance between the sweetness of rum and the tartness of lime. The Daiquiri was a favorite cocktail of Hemingway and J. F. Kennedy.
You will need (for one portion):
— light rum — 40 ml / 1.3 oz
— half of a lime
— 1 lime wedge
— crushed ice
— ice cubes
— martini glass
— ice scoop
— ice bucket
Fill the glass with crushed ice to cool it.
Fill the shaker with ice cubes.
Measure 40 ml / 1.3 oz of light rum with the jigger and pour it into the shaker.
Put half of a lime into the squeezer and press to release juice into the shaker.
Lock the shaker and shake it well, holding it with both hands by the bottom and by the cap. You should hold very tight or the shaker may open!
Shake until the shaker has beads of sweat on the outside.
Pour the mix from the shaker into the glass.
Garnish with a lime wedge. The Daiquiri is complete!
