Cubans know best when it comes to refreshing cocktails, and they made no mistake in creating the Daiquiri. They struck a good balance between the sweetness of rum and the tartness of lime. The Daiquiri was a favorite cocktail of Hemingway and J. F. Kennedy.

Step 1: You will need (for one portion):
— light rum — 40 ml / 1.3 oz
— half of a lime
— 1 lime wedge
— crushed ice
— ice cubes

Necessary utensils:
— martini glass
— ice scoop
— ice bucket
— shaker
— jigger
— squeezer

Step 2: Fill the glass with crushed ice to cool it.

Step 3: Fill the shaker with ice cubes.

Step 4: Measure 40 ml / 1.3 oz of light rum with the jigger and pour it into the shaker.

Step 5: Put half of a lime into the squeezer and press to release juice into the shaker.

Step 6: Lock the shaker and shake it well, holding it with both hands by the bottom and by the cap. You should hold very tight or the shaker may open!

Step 7: Shake until the shaker has beads of sweat on the outside.

Step 8: Pour the mix from the shaker into the glass.

Step 9: Garnish with a lime wedge. The Daiquiri is complete!
