Insert the end of the strip into the slot of the tool (or bend it with your fingers) and roll to the end of the strip. You may use a special slotted tool (as shown), or a slotted toothpick or simply your own fingers and nails.
Take the coil off the tool and let it turn loose. If you need a coil of a specific diameter, use a special circle sizer tool. If the coil doesn’t turn loose by itself, expand the curls with a needle until the desirable size is achieved.
Fix the loose end to the coil with glue.
Press on the middle part of the coil, bringing the side parts upward. You may use the bottom part of the quilling tool as shown.
