Hot Air Balloon How to Draw

Step 1: Let’s draw the basic shapes and lines, applying gentle pressure on the pencil. Start with a large circle, and then divide it in half with a vertical line. Continue the line to the bottom of the picture.

Step 2: Draw a square for the basket and then a horizontal line between the circle and the square. Add two more lines from the ends of the three lines for the supporting ropes.

Step 3: Now we start drawing the contours, pressing on the pencil normally. Outline the balloon itself, following the basic circle. The balloon has an elongated bottom.

Step 4: Draw the basket and the ropes it is hanging on. We are looking at the balloon from beneath and we can see the bottom of the basket. It is oval in shape, and so is the top edge of the basket and the supporting rope at the bottom of the balloon.

Step 5: Outline the bottom of the balloon with another oval, and add some more vertical ropes so the basket won’t fall down.

Step 6: Draw four ropes at the top of the balloon; they all curve upward a bit, because the balloon has the shape of a ball.

Step 7: Now we need to draw the most important of the supporting ropes. They run from the rope ring at the bottom of the balloon to its very top point. The top parts of the ropes should curve to the left a bit, but the closer the rope is to the center, the smaller the curve is.

Step 8: Draw the rest of the ropes the same way.

Step 9: Draw the crossing ropes through the diagonal corners of the squares.

Step 10: Draw the rest of the crossing ropes. The lines curve to the right now.

Step 11: Now draw the ropes through the other diagonal corners.

Step 12: Finish drawing the ropes and erase all the basic shapes and lines before coloring.

Step 13: Color the balloon and the basket. Our balloon is bright red so that it can be easily seen in the clouds. Trace over the contours again if they got blurred after coloring. The balloon is complete!
